The process behind fine jewellery

ATELIER PIECE 1 OF 1
GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK
The Peacock Ring
A singular concept piece by jewellery designer Reuben Edwards. Crafted never to be reproduced or sold again.
A true 1 of 1
The ring uses marquise diamonds to represent the peacock spreading its majestic feathers. On the underside, sculptural feathers support each diamond, tying the entire silhouette together.
THE CREATION JOURNEY
From Initial Sketch to finished piece

01
The Hand Sketch
Every line originated on paper in our Gloucestershire workshop. This sketch was the very first design of around 20 further iterations to ensure the design was perfect.
02
CAD Modelling
All CAD designs are done in house. For this piece we explored ideas around coloured gemstones to better capture the resemblance of a peacock. I ended up going for a full diamond ring as I felt the coloured stones may have taken away from the fine metal work below.

03
Diamond setting and fine tuning
Each stone is set by hand in house. This gives me great control over the design. while it may seem like all the design work is done in the sketching and CAD stage, a bad setting job can ruin the whole look of a piece of jewellery and a good one can make it 10 times better.
“As a jewellery designer I could not be happier with how this piece came to life, and I hope its future owner loves it as much as I loved creating it.”
